Q: What is Rytyu?
A: Rytyu (write you) is an iOS app that allows you to make beautiful, personalised handcrafted letters with just the right blend of convenient technology and hand made love.
We built it because we believe there are lots of people who will appreciate the convenience but who also still want to add a real personal touch to communication with those they love.
In a world of email and social media we want to help encourage a means of correspondence for those who know that there is no feeling quite like the anticipation and reward of sending, receiving, reading and responding to something delivered in a personal and tangible way.
Q: How Does it work?
A: Once you have downloaded, installed and opened the app, Rytyu will help you choose and store your own handwriting style by asking you a few simple questions about you and your personality. Simply touch or swipe the answer that suits you best and pick the handwriting you like the most. In the latest version you can select the "fonts" menu and choose from many more handwriting styles and there are three different ink colours to pick from.
Once you have chosen your handwriting we ask you to access your contact addresses from your iphone where you can set and store your address as the sending contact.
After this, you are all set and ready to choose single or multiple contacts that you want to Rytyu.
Please Note: If you select multiple recipients, you will only see a single Rytyu in the editor. Only when the Rytyu PDF is compiled at the end of the process will you see multiple Rytus one after the other with the addressees and salutations changed.
Then we encourage you to try voice dictation (when you have connectivity) or simply type your Rytyu. Just think, great neat handwriting and no mistakes or sloping lines!
If you want to, you can quickly attach up to four photographs from your iPhone.
After this we give you some quick and simple options to personalise your Rytyu envelope with a beautiful seal and some striking illustrations.
We have now included the ability to select your own image for the envelope and also included some images for many special events throughout the year.
Now you can either print the Rytyu directly from your phone (with compatible printers) or send it to any email address as with a PDF file to print wherever there is access to a printer.
To make it a truly handcrafted and personal experience we have designed a simple process that allows you to use the last printed page of Rytyu as the envelope. It takes about two minutes to make a Rytyu and we find this bit really fun and rewarding as it makes the experience of sending and receiving a Rytyu one that is truly personal and unique.
The great thing is that you can also write, save and finish Rytyus just with your phone without fear of losing your words or not having time to complete it.
Q: Who is it for?
A: Rytyus are for people who remember how lovely it is to correspond in a more tangible and personal fashion where taking a bit of time and effort with personal touches is part of what makes it special.

We believe in the power of handwritten correspondence for small businesses who want to stay in touch with their customers in a personal but cost effective way. Perhaps you have an upcoming sale or opening and want to include a few images of items on sale or in store. We think customers will definitely open and may appreciate a personalised Rytyu more than a leaflet or email.
Q: What do I need to Rytyu?
A: You need an iPad or iPhone (ios V7 or higher), some scissors, glue or a gluestick, a stamp and access to a printer either at home or somewhere else. All you need in addition, is your imagination and your heartfelt words.
Q: Can I select my own font?
A: Yes. Once you are in the letter writing view you can simply select from all the available handwriting fonts.
Q: Can Rytyu produce a "normal" letter in a regular font?
A: Yes, we have included a standard formal font in case people wish to use Rytyu to produce a quick business or formal letter like a job application anytime and anywhere.
Q: Can I Rytyu more than one person, like a mail merge?
A: Yes, you can select multiple addressees to all receive the same Rytyu and the PDF file will produce separately addressed sections for each addressee. We recommend doing this small batches of recipients on older devices (we are working on a fix for this) but we have tested up to 100 recipients on iPhone 5s.
Q: Can I add more than four photos?
A: No, not in this version of Rytyu, but we will certainly consider this if enough customers request it.
Q: What data does Rytyu store and use about me?
A: We store only anonymous data about download and usage of the application including active users and how many Rytyus people send. We don’t store any Personally Identifying Information (PII) and we definitely don’t sell, use or distribute your data to any third parties for marketing purposes. See our full terms in the app.
Q: Can I use voice dictation to make my Rytyus?
A: We love this feature. Speak your Rytyu’s aloud, using commands such as “comma”, “full stop”, “question mark”, "new line" and “new paragraph” to punctuate. It's so quick and easy and typically the Rytyu will need only light editing to make it perfect.
Q: Will there be versions for Android and other devices?
A: If we see enough demand on IOS we will definitely consider this as a priority.
Q: Any hints of tips for us Rytyu fans?
A: As the last page of every Rytyu is always the envelope, you can consider different grades and colours of paper to really give your Rytyus a personal touch.
